Meet Kelly Rose Printon, LCSW, LCADC: I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor (LCADC). I earned both my undergraduate and Master’s degree in Social Work from Monmouth University. I have been working as a therapist since 2015. Before joining Olive Branch Therapy Group, I practiced as a clinician in a long-term substance abuse program, providing individual family and group therapy to adults seeking substance abuse and mental health treatment. I have also practiced as an Intensive In-Home Therapist, providing individual and family counseling to youth who are experiencing a mental health crisis.

My Therapy Specialties:

I work individually with older adolescents and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, long-term substance abuse recovery, 12-step recovery, PTSD/complex trauma, ADD/ADHD, codependency, grief and loss, challenging life transitions, relationships and break-ups. I also work with older children, ages 9–12, who are struggling with mental health and family issues.

What drew me to this work:

Since I was a child, I have always had a genuine curiosity about the individual challenges and strength of people, as well as the influences that early relationships have on them as individuals and in their current relationships and struggles. Growing up, I struggled with anxiety and learning issues. My own early and positive experiences with therapy were extremely impactful in my wish to become a therapist. I believe that the reciprocal relationship between a client and therapist can be one of the most personal and powerful relationships there can be. Carl Jung said, “The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.” Just as I seek to be an agent of exploration and change for my clients, each client, in turn, also changes me. This is why I love this work so deeply.

My style:

I value the connection I have with my clients and have found that what connects them to me is that they are able to feel that I am genuine and honest in my positive regard for them. I also love connecting with my clients through humor. The issues may be serious but it’s okay to laugh, too. Therapy is most effective when the client feels safe, understood and accepted and I believe that a client’s trust in their therapist must be earned, which can take time, especially if a client has had challenging experiences trusting themselves and others. I enjoy providing my clients with helpful information because having a framework for understanding one’s challenges or symptoms is an important part of addressing an issue. I like to encourage clients to become less fearful and more curious about their own stories, to know and understand themselves better, so that they can make thoughtful choices about their lives and relationships.

Services I offer: In-person individual, couples therapy, family therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as well as online video counseling for residents of New Jersey.
